Benriach 34 Year Old 1977 (Adelphi)
- Distillery: Benriach
Cask #642, 217 bottles release.
Aroma: ripe fruits, hints of aniseed and cinnamon. There is interest to try with water also, but there is a doubt also to spoil it. Let's taste first. Palate: pears and peppers. Significant dry wood. Sweet spices. Some very light notes of smoke (can it be?). Really dry one, lot's of wood. Finish is also drying with some ripe fruits. Comments: mature malt, good ol' Speysider, but to dry and spicy for me. Water just spoiled the palate and aroma, some dry spices left without anything else. Bit too dry this time.
The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
