Aroma: notes of sea, earth, ashes and ripe fruits. Melons, pineapples with herbs. Later sea notes emerge together with old wood, leather, old tobacco, long matured puerh tea.. Very interesting, but not attractive (not in a bad sense) malt. Unsexy as Mr Serge Valentine says. I would like to sniff this malt while sitting on the old log gathered from the sea.
Palate: fresh and flawless - wood is present, but not dominating over the notes of tropical fruits with salt and honey. Ashes, dried orange peel and cacao. Finish: quiet long, pleasant. Hard to define gentle sea profile with black chocolate and honey notes.
Comment: first impression - too pale as matured in a sherry butt. 3-4 fill? Aroma also can't define sherry maturation. Passive cask, obviously. Just that cocoa note should be from the oak. Shy, but very interesting malt. Aroma is bit weak, needs concentration, but palate is heavenly. Malt for meditation.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
