Glenfarclas 12 Year Old
- Distillery: Glenfarclas
Winner of several medals, matured in sherry casks. Initially was made for duty free market.
Aroma: caramelizes sugar emerges strongly with some dried figs and vanilla. Oily wood, nut butter. Palate: oily vanilla with lots of nutsaliejinga - almonds, peanuts. Cinammon and vanilla goes strong. Lots of sherry notes. Finish: pungent, vanilla goes to karamelized sugar with some spice. Sugar is too strong here. Comments: too pungent and bit monotonic. Lacks of balance. I like Glenfarclas 10 more. Overall, leasts interesting on their range from 10 to 40 yo. Drinkable, but not special.
The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
