Well well, first ever sample from Glenfarclas family casks. Hope not the last one.

Aroma: caramel, nuts, lots of toffee and vanilla. Notes of rum, milk chocolate. Raisins, orange peel, jam of oranges and apricots. Oak is present as fresh notes also - lemon, mint. Feels fresh for it's strength. Nice notes of cedar, cigar box aroma. With water I get more wood, citrus fruits, some spice herbs.
Palate: powerful - nutty and peppery. Then liquorice, cinnamon, caramel, milk chocolate, raisins. Citrus fruits - lemon, orange zest, grapefruits. With water - the same, bit more fruity and sweet. Finish: sweet, with nuts, liquorice, cinnamon and mint notes. Long one.
Comment: fresh and powerful. For genre lovers. Bit different category than 12-15yo Glenfarclas (those are nice too). IMHO, maybe the only other distillery providing the same very nice sherried single casks besides Glendronach nowadays. This one is young with lots of character.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
