Aroma: significant sherry notes, burnt wood and caramelized sugar. Dry smoke and spice herbs are complemented with raisins, figs. Maple syrup with vanilla bar sticked with burnt sugar. Aroma style for me is somewhere between old and modern style sherried malts. The more time this malt takes, more subtle aromas comes - leather, black tea, old books, more dried fruits. With water I get more dry wood, dried fruits, some mandarines and clove.
Palate: dry spicy wood, black tea and dried fruits. Bold tannins. Ashes, dry smoke, little trace of resin. Caramelized sugar. With water great as neat, maybe more rum, raisins, dried fruits notes. Finish: long, bit dry with spices and dried fruits.
Comments: I like drinks impacted by time and wood. Cognac and other old matured spirits lovers should try it. I didn't try much like this - multidimmensional and very well balanced. You can spend whole evening with dram like this. One of the wow malts both tastewise and aromawise.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
